PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENT

It's no secret that most public schools do not deliver a decent education, or that programs like art, music, and sports are perenially cut due to lack of funding. This would not have to be the case if powerful, wealthy churches would start paying their fair share of taxes.

We believe the future of our country rests squarely on its young citizens. You deserve the best education we can afford - and we could afford to do a lot better if everyone were paying their fair share of taxes.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

Start an undercover investigation: look at publically available information and try to estimate exactly how much money subsidizes religious institutions on the backs of everyone else in your community. Send us the results, and if we're impressed we just might post them here. (Hey, maybe it will help you get into college or something.)

Write reports on this subject for school assignments where appropriate.

Watch the excellent movie Iron Jawed Angels from HBO Fims with friends and discuss it.

Write an article on this subject for your school paper.

Write letters to the editorial boards of your local newspapers.

Talk to your friends about this issue and see what they think. (Be forewarned: brace yourself for some hositlity, but see if you can stay cool.)

Register to vote on the day you turn 18, and never, ever miss an election.
